Mill City Writers’ Workshop offers one-on-one consultation and manuscript critique in our Hopkins studio. Consultation is available for single stories and essays, story and essay collections, novels, novellas, works of journalism, book proposals, and MFA applications.

 

You will receive a thorough read-through and a comprehensive critique of your manuscript, including a reader’s report, and a one-hour private consultation with Ashley Shelby at the MCWW studio.

Editing Services

MCWW Director and former Penguin acquisitions editor Ashley Shelby is available for selected fiction and nonfiction editing projects, including comprehensive and structural editing, line-editing, proofing, and copyediting (Chicago). Shelby can also help with book proposal packages and agent query letters.

 

MCWW also offers editing services for students or writers preparing college application materials, including MFA applications and writing samples.

 

Rates for MCWW’s editing service is $50.00 an hour. Please e-mail the Director for an estimate.

Tutoring Services and Private Instruction

MCWW offers tutoring services for high school students, college-bound individuals, and current college students. Sessions can be tailored to suit almost any writing, grammar, or composition need.

 

Ashley Shelby is also available for limited private instruction sessions with writers or other individuals seeking personalized instruction in a one-on-one setting. Prices for private instruction vary, but start at approximately $75 an hour.
